Trade Plan for 8/17- 8/21
Big week for precious metals incoming
I started the biggest day of last week, Thursday, with a great long bias, as I believed $ES had already broken out:
But overall, last week was a choppy week, which wasn’t too surprising given the breakout in $ES/SPX futures two weeks ago. I was basically watching one major level all week: 7804.75 for intraday trading and for daily bias. Well… $ES closed the week at 7805.00. 🎯😏
I was expecting $NQ/Nasdaq futures and $RTY/small caps futures to outperform if $ES went sideways/up and that worked out well. Two weeks ago $NQ had what I believe is a very significant breakout and so my plan was to buy dips keeping 2 levels in mind:
The $NQ bounce just whiffed my first level support, but I think that shows it’s holding the breakout quite well. I give levels to buy/sell again this week.
$GDX/gold miners also near perfectly held a breakout backtest and in my opinion last week was a big breakout for $SI/silver futures despite it looking ‘meh’ on the surface. I am in buy the dip mode for it with levels that have been consistently great (if I do say so myself).
I am shorting $CL/crude oil futures pops UNLESS I see a daily breakout over a very important level.
Summary of Market Action Last Week:
· The indices futures chopped sideways before another breakout on Thursday. $ES/SPX futures was the relative underperformer in a week that didn’t move very much overall.
· $GDX/gold miners closed flat, holding impressive gains from 2 weeks ago.
· $CL/Crude Oil futures traded in a choppy upward pattern. $XOP/oil equites was the relative strength winner for the week, after being the loser last week.
