This week is both an FOMC interest rate decision on Wednesday at 2pm ET AND we’ll see major tech earnings on both Wednesday ($MSFT, $META) and Thursday ($AAPL, $AMZN) after market as well. While I certainly wish I knew definitively which way this week this will go, I do know definitively where I will buy/short under and where I will short/long above. Last week was all about continuing to hold recent breakout levels and on Friday $ES/SPX futures lost a key level, BUT held on to daily support in what looked like frenetic behavior around a ‘suspicious’ looking hourly bear flag.

I continue to believe that $GC/gold futures has done just enough to be constructive for higher. This week I give levels that $GDX/gold miners and $SI/silver futures need to exceed in order to look bottomy. With one trading week left in July, precious metals and associated equity have held relative strength over the course of this month.

Despite a breakout last week, I have a surprising intermediate bias for $CL/crude oil futures and outline why I think what I think and what I am looking for.

· After a rally into mid week, the indices declined on Thursday and chopped in place on Friday. All of the indices closed moderately red for the week.

· $GDX/gold miners rebounded with $GC/gold futures holding exactly where it needs to and $SI/silver futures showed relative strength to gold last week.

· $CL/Crude Oil futures advanced into the end of the week once again. $XOP/oil equites held gains, but rejected weekly resistance.

I started last week with a bullish bias despite weekend news, because for me, $ES/SPX futures was a breakout on both a weekly and daily basis. More importantly I used my levels to navigate the trading week and those levels are spectacular (if I do say so myself). Despite the down week, so far $ES/SPX futures has held the breakout – so this week it’s all about continuing to hold – or breaking down.

Here’s how it looks on the hourly chart:

I gave commentary and circled the ‘near miss’ of the top support as it happened and indicated that I thought it would be the low. I warned that if it wasn’t, the rest of the support would likely get flushed. I explained my reasoning and it was a great trading day.

I continue to believe that $GC/gold futures has done just enough to be constructive for higher, but I warned that both $GDX/gold miners and $SI/silver futures looked ‘iffy.’

I have a surprising intermediate bias for $CL/crude oil futures and outline why I think what I think and what I am looking for.

· $CL/Crude Oil futures gapped up and held advancing into the end of the week. $XOP/oil equites was the relative strength equity winner for the week.

Last week was a great week of range trading for $ES/SPX futures using both daily diamond consolidation levels and other support/resistances. My levels were incredible and spot on all week (if I do say so myself), and I featured one of my morning notes in a Substack post:

For me, last week was an $ES/SPX futures breakout on both a daily and weekly basis, so this week I give directional bias, resistance levels and what needs to hold in the event of a flush.

I had been waiting for $GDX/gold miners to flush the lows because of some clues I pointed out weeks back. Last week we saw that, so did it do enough? I give my $GC/gold futures bias for this week and levels to trade.

· $CL/Crude Oil futures closed with a gain, but did drop from midweek highs. $XOP/oil equites closed green after two weeks of showing relative strength against the commodity.

The high of that day was $ES/SPX futures 7567.75 vs my 7567.25. 🎯🏆💰 I continued shorting any breaches above the diamond into Thursday when I took an amazing (if I do say so myself) short at my hourly resistance:

As of the start of this week, it looks like $ES_F is above the daily diamond resistance again, but Friday’s short session will get amalgamated into Monday’s session. 👀

My $GC/gold futures, $SI/silver futures and $GDX/gold miners precious metals levels have performed exceptionally well.

I outlined a buying area for $CL/crude oil. TBD whether that holds.
